About 18K gold
18K gold is 75% pure. The extra alloy makes it harder, which is why it is used for diamond-set rings, watches and everyday jewellery. It comes in yellow, white and rose colours.
18K is usually the lowest-priced gold per gram in UAE shops, but diamond and gemstone pieces are priced mainly on the stones and design, so the gold rate is only part of the price.

18K gold is 75% gold, so it costs less per gram than higher karats, and it is harder, which makes it the standard for rings, diamond-set pieces and watches. It comes in yellow, white and rose. For diamond and gemstone jewellery, the stones and design usually make up most of the price, so the gold rate is only part of the story.

Buying 18K gold in Dubai
- Look for the 750 hallmark.
- For diamond pieces, ask for the gold weight and the stone details separately on the invoice.
- White gold is usually rhodium-plated and may need re-plating over time.
- Branded and designer 18K pieces carry higher making charges than plain gold.
How to check 18K purity
Gold sold in the UAE is marked with its purity in parts per thousand. For 18K, look for 750. You can ask the shop to test the piece, and reputable jewellers will show you the hallmark under a loupe. The invoice should state the karat too.
Selling 18K gold
Shops buy 18K gold on its gold content at their buying price. Diamonds and stones are valued separately, if the buyer accepts them at all, and often at much less than their retail price. Check the gold value first with our selling estimator.
